The NCD Networks:
A Just-In-Time Approach to NCD Training |
|
When we introduced NCD in the Philippines
the response was very enthusiastic. But … when it came to implementation …
well … almost nothing happened. We have overcome this problem by using
networks.

Welcome to eNCDine!
National NCD Partners from 30
countries came together in Pretoria, South Africa, from October 21-23 for
the First NCD World Summit. An amazing event! Not only did it become very
clear that there is a huge NCD movement worldwide with about 35,000
churches working with NCD, but the summit also created a network, or
better, a "family" of key NCD people. It seems to be very natural that NCD
is not a top-down approach, as everyone is learning from everyone else.
NCD International initiated the movement, but our team probably learned
the most from the delegates. Just one example: With the help of some
African partners and experts like linguists and missionaries, we
discovered the first steps towards designing a new NCD "survey" (actually
not just a questionnaire but a group approach) that will fit the African
culture, yet still meet scientific criteria.
I'm writing this to encourage you to give us feedback
(not
only on eNCDine, but on everything that is related to NCD), and share your
experiences and stories with us:

How To Draw Up Your Own Mission Statement (Part II) |
|
You are sitting in your car driving on the highway. A truck in
front of you slows you down. You look at your watch and recognise that you
are running late. So you step on the gas, pull out from behind the truck
and change to the left lane ... If you were taking a test for a driving
licence, you would now have failed. It's imperative to look in the
rear-view mirror before you change lanes. Only looking back gives you
clarity in what is going on behind you. The same truth applies when you
want to draw up your own "mission statement".

NCD Empowered to the Next Level |
|
The NCD World Summit was beyond our
expectations. It is very hard to write a brief report about it,
believe me. 55 people from 30 countries met in the beautiful Farm
Inn located close to the South-African city Pretoria. We spent three
days... ―> more... |

Implementing NCD in a Holistic Way |
|
The NCD Survey is easy to take. The
challenge begins when the Survey results are received. The experience of
the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) denomination in North America has been
that most churches did not know how to address their Minimum Factor, or
would begin a change process only to become bogged down in details and too
discouraged to continue. We wanted to change that... ―> more... |

Does Your Sermon Make A Difference?
Life-Changing Sermons and Church Quality |
|
Preaching the Word of God is a key element of the church. However,
while its importance is often underrated, the life-changing power of
some preaching styles is often overrated: Knowledge alone does not
change lives (even with some preachers believing so). Research can
help us understand more about the life-changing aspects of sermons,
and how to improve our preaching styles accordingly.

Asking Good Questions |
|
Powerful questions make a big
difference. They can unlock doors that the best statements cannot
penetrate. One of the cardinal rules of creative writing is "Show,
don't tell." Likewise, one of the cardinal rules of coaching is
"Ask, don't tell." ―> more... |
